Pat on Jobs and the Economy

- The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review called Pat a “voice of economic sanity, so rare in politics today,” (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, 05/09/10).

- “Pat Toomey is a proven leader in supporting limited government and eliminating excessive spending.  Pat Toomey’s voting record as a three-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives demonstrates that he has the interests of the taxpayers at heart," (CCAGWPAC Endorses Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania Primary, 05/13/10).

- “Toomey believes strongly that what unites Republicans in Pennsylvania and much of the country is push back against big government and continued overspending.  His track record backs that up. (Patriot-News Editorial Board, “Endorsement: Toomey has grasp of issues, 05/10/10)

Pat on Jobs and the economy:

There is no more important issue today than the economic recession and the rising unemployment rate. All across the Commonwealth, hard-working Pennsylvanians are struggling to make ends meet and provide for their families. But the approach taken by politicians in Washington is not working. Government bureaucrats cannot create sustainable jobs. When they try to create jobs by spending taxpayer dollars, they merely take money out of the private sector that would be better spent in the marketplace by the people who earned it. Worse, the current Congress is favoring policies that actually discourage job growth.

Instead of encouraging businesses to hire new employees, Washington is threatening new and heavy costs and burdens on businesses. If these policies are enacted, Pennsylvania businesses won’t be able to hire new employees and may even be forced to lay off workers to survive. Instead, the government should be making it less expensive and easier for businesses to hire people. It can do this by cutting taxes and decreasing regulation. For example, if we rescind the stimulus and cut both employees’ and employers’ payroll taxes instead, every worker would see an immediate increase in their take home pay and it would be less expensive for businesses to hire new workers. If we eliminated the tax on capital gains and lowered the tax on businesses, it would make U.S. companies more competitive, and lead to major job growth.

I don't know why so many mean spirited people are against extending Unemployment insurance for their own people. Where was the outrage rage when baby Bush started two expensive wars? Baby Bush said outsourcing and off shoring are good for the economy.  Unemployment only pays a portion of the paycheck that these American workers get to collect. These people paid into unemployment while that they were working. Its not an entitlement program that the party of NO would have you believe. Maybe we should cut the funding for the 2 wars that's draining our economy not Unemployment extension since there are no jobs..

susan collins

im not too happy with susan collins and if shes stumping for toomey then he becomes one of those moderate republicans. ill think twice at the voting booth now.

New health care bill

I recently got word from a company that sells motorizied wheel chair, that starting in January that you will be no longer be allowed to own  a wheelchair.  They have to charge 680.00 a month for RENT of a chair and they can take it away at any time if you cant afford it.  My mom and dad got one and they pay 25.00  dollars a month and they own it.  Some much for more access and cheap healthcare, sread the word. please.

Medicare

Pat,

What is your position on the state of Medicare after Obama raided it for $500 billion?  I am convinced senior citizens will have a major impact on the November elections.  We do not want Medicare funds used to fund new entitlements.  Can the damage done by this administration be overturned and will you lead that fight?

ELECTION 2010

I am a 72 yr old vetran and former Repub. I changed because the Mont. Co. Rep Comm did not return my call after 3  requests. I guess they did not want my vote. Anyhow I am asking you run a strong campaign against this 'socialist' party in office now.  I don't like my freedoms being taken away one by one.  Don't be a 'wimp' on running your campaign. I expect to see you tell the truth and honestly.   2 years ago we were asked to vote for 'change'. Now look at what we got.  Because of that rheortic, it's hard to TRUST a polition.  It's very difficult to live on my income and budget everything when the government wants to spend, spend and raise taxes. I'll be watching your ads and blogs.  Thank You  Ed Lightkep

Cap & Trade (Tax) Bill

Dear Mr. Toomey:

I applaud your stance on cap and trade legislation.  However, the case you make does not go far enough to stop the passage of this dangerous legislation.  The case to avoid the loss of jobs, which is accurate and correct, is too shortsighted in its reach.  The larger issue is that the left will stop at nothing to enact their agenda of attacking capitalism through the environmentalist movement.  Your position of ultimately accepting their premise that we must do all we can to protect the environment plays right into their agenda, which is that human activity utilizing our natural resources is causing global warming.  This is a farce and the ultimate red herring.  I believe that we should do all we can to avoid waste and the improper use of our resources, and we should be continually be applying our capabilities, learnings, knowledge and resources to accomplish this.  However, be careful of accepting their premise in your positions.

Thanks, and best of luck in November.

Unemployment extension

I received a reply from Sen. Casey this morning asking why the Democrats would not release the stimulus money that they had said it's going to be used for jobs!?. Sen. Casey told me that if my unemployment benefits ran out I should seek welfare. I'm a disabled veteran. In the way both parties have conducted themselves in this economic fiasco is not going to fly. Whether it's unemployment benefits or welfare it is still tax dollars. None of us want to be unemployed or on welfare. This is a slap in the face to us as these bunch of clowns sit in Congress and bicker.
I firmly believe that the Democrats are going to be pounded at the polls in November. That does not mean the Republicans will get a free ride, because the voters will expect the new representatives in Congress to straighten things out quickly. I am a lifelong Republican, as is my entire family, who will expect the Republicans to get the lead out of their tail and get this country back on track. Pat,
I am 56 years old. I have worked since the age of 11. I am now 56, and for the first time in my life have no job prospects. I'm extremely frustrated  with all the politicians, Because none of them understand that they work for the people and not the special interest groups. The sooner they wake up to this fact, the sooner the citizens will not have to come to Washington and take the matter into their own hands. It all comes down to whether you are part of the solution or part of the problem. Where do you stand? The veterans in this country will stand by their oath to protect the country from all enemies both foreign and domestic. At the present time, with the present administration, we see them as both foreign and domestic enemies. When you're elected do your job. We will all be watching.

Support our children

I understand you are seeking funds yourself for your campaign.  First and foremost, please understand I am a supporter of your campaign.  I do, however, have a real need for a group of baton twirlers who have competed and won positions to perform in the Citrus Bowl to be played New Years Day in Florida.   We are fund raising every chance we have.   We currently have our largest undertaking which is a golf scrambe planned for August 14, 2010 at Middlecreek Golf Club which is near Somerset, Pennsylvania.  We are in need of tee sponsors.  The costs are $30, $50, or $100.00.  In return, your advertisement would be displayed at the tee, of course.  In addition, we are in need of golfers, ($50.00 per golfer -- $200.00 per team of four, including all golf, cart fees, and lunch is provided).   What a great way to meet people of Somerset County!!!!   Please consider one or both of the above.

Another Pennsylvania Invisible Republican Candidate!

When will Montgomery County ever see Pat Toomey? I am a loyal Republican of many, many years. The areas that Pat Toomey could win in Montgomery County are Collegeville, Skippack, Trappe, Limerick etc.. Yet every good candidate the Republicans have nominated for many years focuses on going to Lower Merion where they will never win! Look at the past election stats.

A Pledge of Fiscal Responsibility

Pat;

Your support of a balanced-budget amendment is on record.  Please add it to your web site, and put out a press release!  Greater freedom for the American people will only become posible if we restrict the freedom of our congressmen to intervene in our lives, and in the lives of the taxpayers of the distant future.     http://weelectedyou.org/ .

Action not hope

Dear Mr. Toomey,

I think that an excellent, unprecedented manner of getting press would be to give an actual, substantive approach to the issues that are plaguing us in the US now, for instance, the travesty of the oil spill.

HR 4213

Defeat of HR 4213 by the GOP will trigger a backlash likely to undo any recent gains that might have otherwise favored GOP candidates in the mid-term elections.

HR 4213 Tax Extender Bill

Mr. Toomey,

The Senate just failed to pass the Bill HR4213, being unempolyed myself and dependent on the EUC benefits, where do you stand on HR4213?  Would you follow the Republicans in the Senate and vote against the middle class unemployed, as well.

Paul Wlostowski
