EXTREMISM WATCH: SESTAK AND SPECTER CAN LEARN FROM MODERATE DEMOCRATS

Allentown, PA – U.S. Senate candidate Pat Toomey commended moderate Democrats Evan Bayh and Joe Lieberman for standing up to the political extremism dominating the Democratic Party and urged Arlen Specter and Joe Sestak to follow in their footsteps.
Yesterday, Democratic Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN) urged President Obama to veto the $447 billion Omnibus spending bill Congress passed last week, complete with 5,224 in earmarks. At the same time, Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) declared that he will not support Senator Reid’s expansion of Medicare, arguing “It will add taxpayer costs. It will add to the deficit. It’s unnecessary.”
Unfortunately, Specter and Sestak have taken the opposite approach. Both Pennsylvania Democrats voted for the massive spending bill (RC #374, 12/12/09) (RC #949, 12/10/09), and Sestak even issued a press release touting the bill (Press release, 12/10/09). Over the past year, the two Democratic candidates have engaged in a race to the left, voting for bailouts, deficit spending, government-run health care, and job-killing cap-and-trade legislation.
“The political extremism in Washington today is exactly the opposite of what the country needs right now,” Mr. Toomey said. “Arlen Specter and Joe Sestak are embracing policies that are increasing the deficit, imposing new taxes, slapping new burdens on Pennsylvania businesses, and hurting Pennsylvania families. We need to be embracing fiscally responsible and bipartisan policies to put our economy back on track.”
“When I get to the U.S. Senate, I will support policies that lower our deficit, force Congress to live within its means, defend taxpayers, and increase jobs for Pennsylvania workers—whether those policies come from Democrats, Republicans, or Independents. Extremism may help Joe and Arlen win points with the Moveon.org crowd, but it is not the right answer for Pennsylvania.”

These "dispatches" need to be dated! Thank you! Nachama's very well spoken...refreshingly so. Would like more quotations from the candidate himself. Preponderance of communications director quotations gives the false impression that the candidate won't speak for himself.
